Engine Overhaul for European CV, Generator & Marine Applications in Singapore
For operators running European commercial vehicles, generator sets and marine auxiliary engines, the engine is the foundation of reliability. When a Scania DC9, Mercedes-Benz OM906, or Caterpillar C9 is down, the entire operation stops.
Scantruck Engineering specialises in complete major overhauls of European diesel engines, including:
City buses (diesel & Euro-rated platforms)
Distribution and long-haul trucks
Industrial and standby generator sets
Marine auxiliary engines derived from truck platforms
Below is an overview of key European engine families Scantruck already supports — including newly added Mercedes-Benz platforms.

Scania DC9, DC12 & DC13 – Bus, Truck & Marine-Derived Platforms
Engine Families We Overhaul
Scania DC9 18 310HP – 9-litre inline-5, ~310 hp / 228 kW, ~1550 Nm torque.
Scania DC9 16 230HP Euro-4 – 230 hp, PDE injection, used in K-series city buses.
Scania DC12 10 340HP – 11.7-litre inline-6 for heavy-duty buses and trucks.
Scania DC13 114 L01 360HP Euro-5 – XPI common rail system with SCR emissions module.
Technical characteristics important during overhaul:
4-valve heads — prone to guide and seat wear when overheated
PDE or XPI injection — injector calibration critical
High BMEP engines — liner protrusion, ring packs and main bearing clearances must be precise
Integrated turbo/EGR/SCR systems — soot loading must be addressed early
Because Scania industrial and marine engines share the same base blocks, heads and rotating assemblies, our overhaul knowledge applies directly to marine auxiliary engines built from DC9/DC13 platforms.

Volvo D7F260 Euro-5 – FE / FL Platform
A widely used European engine in Singapore fleets, the Volvo D7F260 is a 7.2-litre inline-6 producing ~260 hp and 1010 Nm, using SCR after-treatment.
Technical considerations:
Integrated cylinder head (SOHC, 4-valve/cyl) — vulnerable to overheating deformation
Tight injector coding and VGT turbo parameters
SCR system health impacts combustion pressure and soot load
We inspect turbochargers, EGR interfaces, DEF dosing units and NOx sensors as part of the overhaul scope to ensure long-term reliability.

MAN D0836 LFL5 – 6.9L Distribution Engine
The MAN D0836 is a 6.9-litre inline-6 producing ~184–250 kW with torque levels up to 1000 Nm depending on variant.
Key focus areas in overhaul:
Common-rail injection system — requires precise calibration
Valve seat wear in high-idle applications
Cooling system condition — EGR coolers often become choke points
This engine appears frequently in distribution trucks like the MAN TGM series.

Mercedes-Benz OM906 – Heavy-Duty Inline-6 for Buses & Trucks
The Mercedes-Benz OM906 LA is a 6.37-litre, inline-6 diesel engine used extensively in:
Urban and intercity buses
Medium-duty trucks (Axor/Actros derivatives)
Industrial equipment
Marine auxiliary packages (OM906-based gensets and propulsion auxiliaries)
Technical Specifications (Specs vary by variant; representative OM906 LA figures:)
Displacement: 6.37 L
Bore x Stroke: ~102 mm × 130 mm
Power Output: approx. 177–205 kW (240–280 hp)
Torque: ~1100 Nm
Injection System: Unit Pump System (UPS) or Common Rail
Emissions: Euro III, IV and V variants depending on configuration
These specifications align with typical OM906 LA application data.
Common OM906 Overhaul Considerations
Unit Pump Injection (UPS) Wear UPS elements are sensitive to fuel contamination and must be tested or replaced to avoid timing drift and misfires.
Cylinder Head Fatigue OM906 heads are known for developing micro-cracks between valve seats if cooling efficiency drops. We perform pressure testing and crack detection (dye penetrant) before deciding on re-machining or replacement.
Piston & Liner Cavitation Particularly in high-idle bus operations—improper coolant chemistry accelerates cavitation pitting in liners.
Turbocharger & Charge-Air System Over-fueling from injector drift can cause elevated EGTs, damaging turbochargers, which is why we always test and calibrate after overhaul.
Marine Adaptations Many marine auxiliary engines use OM906 blocks with:
Heat exchanger cooling
Marine-rated turbos
Different governor settings
Our experience with generator engines and CV platforms directly applies here.
The OM906 is one of the most reliable mid-size European engines, but its performance depends on valvetrain health, calibration integrity and cooling efficiency — all part of Scantruck’s overhaul workflow.
Industrial & Marine Engines – Caterpillar & Detroit
Scantruck supports Caterpillar and Detroit engines used in generator sets, industrial machinery and marine contexts.
Caterpillar 3406B
14.6-litre inline-6, widely used in generator and marine applications
Ratings range from 290–480 hp
Known for valvetrain and liner cavitation issues if coolant service is neglected
Caterpillar C9 ACERT
8.8 L inline-6
205–280 kW range
Common generator and vessel auxiliary engine
Caterpillar C7.1
7.01 L inline-6
172–302 hp depending on arrangement
Detroit Diesel Series 60
11.1–14 L variants
300–515 hp output classes
Very common in both on-road heavy trucks and marine auxiliary applications
Why Fleets Choose Scantruck for Engine Overhaul
European CV Specialists
We focus on Scania, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and DAF — not every brand under the sun.
Industrial & Marine Capability
Because many gensets and vessel engines are derivatives of European truck engines, our CV expertise transfers directly.
Data-Driven Engine Blueprinting
We measure, document and calibrate every component according to OEM tolerances — liner protrusions, torque specs, bearing clearances, injector calibrations, turbo maps.
Integrated Driveline Approach
Engine overhaul is coordinated with gearbox and axle condition, since driveline failures are often interlinked.
If your fleet or vessel operates engines such as Scania DC-series, Volvo D-series, MAN D0836, Mercedes OM906, Caterpillar industrial engines or Detroit Series 60, Scantruck offers:
Failure analysis
Overhaul estimation
Parts supply
Complete engine remanufacturing
Recommissioning & diagnostics
